Finding the Right Image
Look at other business cards and identify your likes and dislikes, your business card reflects who you are, it captures the essence of your business image.
Consider an eye catching logo, graphic or picture if appropriate.
A business card should:
- Have your business name that is clear and easy to read Have a tag line to convey the benefits at a quick glance
- Must be printed on heavy card stock
- Can be printed on both sides for additional information/appointments
- Always include your name and title, address, phone number, fax number, email address and website.

Carry at least 20 cards at all times and hand to everyone you meet

Very valid points Julie. You would think most of your points would be pretty obvious if not common sense to most, but you’d be surprised in how many business cards are given to me printed on flimsy paper and have a “get your free cards at [insert website here]”
It’s all in the details! Quality cards will be taken more seriously more often than not. Make sure to have a nice Business card case as well in order to not crease or ruin your cards! It also adds a bit of professionalism to your pitch/presentation/networking event.

Some ideas:
Insert an Attractive Picture. To make it, use half of the business card for a nice picture, while the other half is left for your contact information. Pay special attention at a dividing line: it should be soft and smooth. The picture you chose should be interesting and fascinating.
Center or Offset the Information. By playing around with offsetting you can keep the important aspects of the card while experimenting with an unusual look. If your name and logo are smack dab in the center of your personal card, try moving them all the way over to the left and putting your contact information on the right.
Experiment with Verticals. For example, you may try to print your tagline or name perpendicular to the text on your business card. It is a good way to both make your personal card look out of the ordinary and include all the necessary information.

A consultant we know suggests always, always carry a business card. Get extra card holders and keep one in the brief case, car glove compartment and even diaper bag. Why? She was on a college tour with her son and struck up a conversation with a man who was on tour with his daughter. This consultant specializes in pharmaceutical companies. There was a large company that she had been trying to get into. for a year. As it turned out, this man was a senior vp of the company! She did not have a business card on her that day. That will not happen again.

It is important to make your business card “Visually Engaging”. Everyone has a business card, you need to stand out from the crowd.
When (if) posting on an actual bulletin board, be sure to post 3 or 4, that way your message/card stays up there 3 or 4 times longer. Upload your card to TheCardBoard.net and turn your business card into an online marketing tool as well.
